This one-of-a-kind opportunity lets you get it all in one visit. Destination: Music is a day full of musical activities for prospective Music majors.

The day begins with an overview of life as a music major and performances by several of our ensembles. In addition to meet and greet sessions with UWG music students and staff, you may also tour the beautiful UWG campus. Lunch is provided and you may choose to audition for one of our many scholarships.

Available Music Scholarships

Music is dedicated to supporting our students. A range of scholarship and awards opportunities are available for both admitted incoming freshmen and continuing Music majors. Please review the requirements carefully for each scholarship listed below.

How do I apply for a scholarship?

  1. Apply to UWG and be admitted.
  2. Apply to audition with Music. You will be contacted to arrange for an audition.
  3. Apply for a scholarship through the scholarships portal.
  4. Make sure to upload all required materials to the portal with your application.

Awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior majoring in music/performance who is a resident of Carroll, Polk, or Troup counties. If none found in these counties, a resident of Georgia is allowed.
Awarded to a first-year student graduate or undergraduate who exhibits potential for excellence in piano during the audition/interview process and majors in music in piano performance with emphasis in pedagogy or master of music who will actively participate in music events and enroll in ensemble.
Awarded to an Elementary Education major who demonstrates financial need, is in good academic standing as determined by the College of Education. Preference for students with a music background and interest in using music in teaching.
Awarded to an undergraduate majoring in music who has a secure singing range, strong leadership, sightsinging skills, a positive spirit, a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Those eligible must pass an audition and by available for rehearsals and church services.
Awarded to a performance major who demonstrates artistic excellence/potential as instrumentalist or vocalist. Candidates must audition with the School of Visual and Performing Arts and with Charles Wadsworth or his designee, who will make the final decision.
Awarded at the discretion of the Music Scholarship Committee based on the student's talent and performance ability as a vocalist or instrumentalist. 

The Cindy Stone Denney Scholarship will be awarded annually by a scholarship committee within the School of Visual and Peforming Arts. The recipients of this scholarship will meet the following preferences:

  • Be a junior, senior, or graduate student;
  • Be a student(s) studying in the performing arts;
  • Have a 3.0 GPA; and
  • Must demonstrate financial need.

Awarded to a UWG minority student majoring in music who demonstrates academic achievement and financial need.

Provides support for students specifically studying jazz music at UWG and awarded annually at the discretion of the UWG jazz music professor.

Awarded annually to students enrolled in the UWG choral ensemble regardless of degree program or major.

Provides support for one UWG Marching Band musician. 

Awards outstanding students majoring in music.

Covers tuition for the MUSC 4865 course, as well as a stipend for living expenses.  As part of the MUSC 4865 course, students will be required to complete an internship arranged by the music program at an external business organization. 

Awarded to an incoming or first-year student, graduate or undergraduate, who exhibits potential for excellence in piano. Eligible candidate must be enrolled in the Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance with emphasis in pedagogy degree, or in Master of Music in Piano Performance degree and in all available specialty piano courses; actively participate in piano events such as competitions; and enroll in ensembles as required by degree program. May be renewed by maintaining A or upper B in piano courses.

Awarded annually to a student who is enrolled in the Opera Workshop program and demonstrates financial need.

Awarded to a student pursuing a Master of Music degree with a Major in Music Education.

Awarded to a music major with financial need.

Split among multiple students, this scholarship awards a full-time undergraduate majoring in music/principal instrument piano. Eligible candidates mus have a GPA of 2.0 or higher, meet UWG academic standards through the duration of the scholarship, and demonstrate superior performance skills in an audition.

Supports one UWG student for fall and spring semesters. The recipient must meet the following criteria: 

  • Have an overall GPA of 2.0 and a 3.0 in music courses
  • Be a junior or above
  • Qualify for financial aid
  • Participate in a minimum of at least one ensemble

Recipient selection will be based on audition requirements of Music for music majors.

The award will be revoked for the following reasons: 

  • Change of major
  • Failure to maintain GPA
  • No longer enrolled

Awarded to a full-time undergraduate student who is majoring in music and demonstrates talent in area of focus.

Awarded to a music major at UWG.

Awarded to a music major by the Music program.

Awarded by a scholarship committee within the Music program to deserving students. Preference is given to those participating in choral ensemble.

Awarded to a music major based on talent and desire to pursue the study of music.

Awarded to a full-time undergraduate majoring in music who has a GPA of 3.0 or higher and financial need. Chosen by the music faculty.

Awarded to a music major with voice as the applied principal instrument and enrolled in Opera Workshop.

Awarded to a student majoring in music with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Awarded to a student majoring in music with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Awarded to a student participating in bands for fall and spring semesters.

Awarded to an undergraduate in music in performance with a preference for residents of Carroll County.

Awarded to an undergraduate student majoring music, art, or theatre who exhibits merit by the music and fine arts faculty.
