Professor Emeritus of Geology
A sedimentologist-stratigrapher, I specialize in the interpretation of ancient sedimentary environments, Research interests include the interpretation of sedimentary ironstones and other chemical sediments, the origin of geodes in sedimentary rocks, Pre-Cretaceous rocks beneath the Georgia Coastal Plain, and recent changes related to rising sea levels along the Georgia coast. I have a long-standing interest in the geology of Georgia and have served for many years as treasurer of the Georgia Geological Society.
