Climbing Wall

West Georgia Outdoors' climbing wall offers UWG students, faculty and staff an alternative way to exercise and socialize for free. Located in the Campus Center, the climbing wall measures 48 feet tall and can be used by climbers of all skill levels (no experience necessary).

Climbing Workshops & Events

Learn the basics of climbing through one of our climbing workshops taught by our talented and skilled West Georgia Outdoors staff.

Belay Workshop:

  • Dec. 2 | 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. | Campus Center Climbing Wall

  • Ready to take your climbing skills to new heights? Join WGO every first Monday of the month for our Belay Workshop at the climbing wall located in the campus center—open to all students!

    Whether you're a beginner looking to learn the ropes or an experienced climber aiming to sharpen your belaying techniques, this hands-on workshop is designed to help you climb with confidence and safety. Our certified instructors will cover the fundamentals of belaying, including proper equipment usage, knot tying, communication, and safety procedures.

Indoor Campout/Late Night Climb Competition:

  • Jan. 24-25 | 7 p.m. - 9 a.m. | Campus Center Ballroom and Climbing Wall

  • Experience the excitement of camping right on campus. Enjoy roasting marshmallows and grilling delicious snacks all while sharing stories with friends. As the night unfolds, challenge yourself with some exhilarating rock climbing, perfect for all skill levels. WInd down with a movie screening right in your tent, creating the ulitmate campout vibe. Make memories and moments with fellow wolves in this on-campus camping experience.

Women Climb Wednesdays: 

  • Feb. 5, March 5, April 2 | 6-7 p.m. | Climbing Wall
  • This night will be help every first Wednesday of the month. Offering a supportive and inclusive enviroment, WCW is a night of rock climbing tailored for women. Open to all but celebrating women who climb.

Belay My Valentine:

  • Feb. 13 | 6-7 p.m. | Climbing Wall
  • Ready to take your love to new heights? Join WGO for a unique experience designed for couples where you both will experience teamwork as you and your partner navigate climbing wthe wall together, building trust and strengthening your connection in a fun and supportive environment.

Rock Climbing Competition:

  • March 26 | 6-9 p.m. | Climbing Wall |
