The Art Program is dedicated to supporting our students. A range of scholarship and awards opportunities are available for both incoming admitted freshmen and continuing Art majors.

Scholarships for Incoming Freshmen

Awarded to an outstanding incoming freshman majoring in Art, with a strong portfolio and who requires additional financial support.

Requirements:

  • Submit a portfolio.
  • Submit a financial needs statement.

Scholarship for an outstanding incoming full-time freshman majoring in art who shows great promise as an art major as seen in the submission of an outstanding drawing portfolio.

Requirements:

  • Must be a student majoring in Studio Art.
  • Must be an Incoming Freshman.
  • Must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.0.
  • Must be an in-state (Georgia resident) full-time student.
  • Must submit a drawing portfolio to include up to 5 drawings.

Awarded to a full-time incoming freshman majoring in Art, who shows outstanding promise.

Requirements:

  • Submit a portfolio.

Scholarships for Continuing Art Students

Awarded to a current outstanding freshman Art major as seen in an Art foundations portfolio and who display strong promise for progression.

Requirements:

  • Submit a portfolio of artwork.

Merit and need-based in support of an outstanding Art major as seen in Art Foundations works presented in an Art foundations portfolio and who displays strong promise for progression. This award reimburses a student for expenses associated with Art coursework.

Requirements:

  • Submit a portfolio of artwork.
  • Must be an undergraduate student majoring in Art.
  • Display the potential, engagement, hard work, and dedication to art within foundation studies.
  • Have unmet financial need.
  • Recipients should be able to present receipts to the Art Program; the reimbursable amount will then be disbursed through the UWG Office of Financial Aid.

Merit and need based scholarship in support of Art students who are planning on attending a UWG Art Summer Study Abroad Program.

Requirements:

  • Submit a statement outlining travel.
  • Submit a financial needs statement.

Awarded to a full-time junior or senior Art Major with a GPA of 2.0 or better who must maintain good standing throughout the duration of the scholarship.

Awarded Junior or Senior majoring in Art with a GPA of 3.0 or better.

Requirements:

  • Submit a portfolio

Awarded to a junior or senior majoring in art from Carroll or Polk counties (preferred); Troup County and Georgia resident students may also be eligible.

Requirements:

  • Indicate county of residency and high school attended.
  • Submit a financial need statement and indicate GPA.
  • Submit a portfolio.

A merit-based scholarship in support of a student majoring in art with preference given to those concentrating in sculpture.

Requirements:

  • Must be a full time undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Art.
  • Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or better.
  • Must meet or exceed the UWG’s academic standards throughout the duration of their scholarship.
  • Must submit a portfolio of artwork.

Awarded to an outstanding full-time Art Major as seen in the presentation of an outstanding portfolio.

Requirements:

  • Submit a portfolio.

Awarded to a minority and/or a single-parent student with a GPA between 2.0 and 3.0 who demonstrates financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid. 

Intent is to provide recipient with a scholarship assistance that allows them to focus of classes and better their academic and professional standing.

Scholarship for an art student who is traveling as part of the Art History Museum Seminar or as part of the Art Study Abroad Program.

Requirements:

  • Must be a full-time declared Art Major or Art Minor.
  • Must be attending either an Art History Museum Seminar or Art Study Abroad Program.
  • Must submit an essay outlining intended travel and how the award will help.
  • Must provide a copy of FAFSA form or other UWG financial aid documentation.

Awarded to one outstanding female student majoring in art or art education. Based on  the students talent, academic ability, promise, and need. A student is only eligible to receive the award once.

Requirements:

  • Submit a need statement.
  • Submit a portfolio.

Awarded to a female B.F.A. student majoring in ceramics, who is dedicated and passionate about art.

Requirements

  • Must be a full-time BFA in Ceramics student.
  • Submit a statement of definition of art.
  • Submit a portfolio of 2 images.

Awarded to an outstanding Art student who is quiet and hardworking, with preference given to art education students.

Requirements:

  • Art GPA minimum 2.5.
  • Submit a Self-reflection essay.
  • Submit a portfolio.

Outstanding achievement of an art major, based on portfolio development.

Requirements:

  • Current full-time continuing art major with a minimum 2.5 overall GPA.
  • Must submit a portfolio.

Awarded to a rising Art Major with consideration to need and talent, 3.0 GPA required.

Requirements:

  • Must be a full-time junior and continuing senior.
  • Submit a needs statement.
  • Submit a portfolio.
