Nathan Ploeg

Nathan Ploeg is an alum of UWG with a Bachelor’s of Mass Communications with a focus in Film & Video Production and a Minor in History. Nathan started his journey at UWG in 2013 as a history major. He found college was not as expected and joined the U.S. Army Reserve in 2014. After completing 18 months of training at the Defense Information School, Fort Meade, Maryland, and U.S. Army Airborne School, Fort Benning, Georgia, he returned to UWG to complete his degree in Mass Communications.

During his tenure as a student he continued his career in the reserves leading teams of soldiers that produced multimedia across four countries and ten states. His decorations include Joint Commendation Medal, Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, and Army Reserve Overseas Training Ribbon. After graduation, Nathan was activated and deployed to Iraq supporting Operation Inherent Resolve in the fight against ISIL.

He now manages the School of Communication, Film, and Media Productions to provide an experiential learning opportunity to students. “This is an opportunity I wish I had while I was in college and found this is a way that I could give back to our future filmmakers and digital media producers.”
