Dr. McPhail teaches both introductory and upper-level chemistry in addition to running an undergraduate research lab. His research interests lie in combining knowledge of physical and inorganic chemistry to understand the development and application of nanomaterials with potential uses in next-generation electronics and renewable energy technologies. Students in his lab research nanoparticle synthesis, surface chemistry, and self-assembly.
Outside of the lab, Dr. McPhail's interests include sci-fi and fantasy fiction, video games, and board games.
