Richard La Fleur, Ph.D

Dr. Richard E. La Fleur is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of West Georgia. After his graduate studies at the University of West Georgia, he was invited to study under Dr. Mark Freeman and complete a post-doctoral at College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. His research interests include the concept of Mattering and Moral Injury, as it relates to veterans’ post-deployment during the reintegration process. Dr. La Fleur has published widely on these topics, and his most recent book Moral Injury and the American Veteran: Finding Meaning in Trauma, Guilt and Shame, addresses the challenges many veterans face today. Dr. La Fleur seeks to initiate spaces for communal dialogues to foster physical, mental, and spiritual healing and growth for individuals, families and communities.
