As Executive Director of Global Engagements within University Advancement, I oversee multiple programs and initiatives based in Central Italy. As a result, UWG offers an increasing number of academic options for students from the College of Business, the Schools of Nursing and Communication, Film, and Media, as well as from myriad programs within the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. In addition, Spoleto, Italy, is quickly becoming a hub of UWG community and alumni activity, as we grow our presence in Italy in intentional and mutually beneficial ways.
As Executive Director of Cultural Programming, I manage a number of arts-based prizes and community projects, including the Other Night School, the Blackwell Prizes in Painting and Writing, the Wadsworth Piano Competition, the Vault Gallery and Vault Gallery Press, the Michael and Andrea Stone Visiting Artist Series, and the Sewell Reading Series. All of these activities, both abroad and at home, stress the importance of our university as a cultural and intellectual crossroads, a locus of critical engagement and lifelong learning, whether that be here on our home campus or in Italy, where our relationships with local businesses, schools, and towns offer our west Georgia region a unique opportunity to deepen cultural awareness while enjoying the treasures of the bel paese.
If you are interested in learning more about west Georgia in Italy or about any of the programs in our home community, reach out.
