Rebecca Smith is the Director of the University of West Georgia’s Newnan campus, where she provides strategic leadership for campus operations, academic support services, facilities, budgeting, technology, academic scheduling, and personnel. She leads a student-centered campus that emphasizes operational excellence, academic success, community engagement, and strong partnerships with business, education, and community organizations. Rebecca also serves as an instructor for the University System of Georgia's eCore program, teaching Financial Literacy (ECON 1101), and for the University of West Georgia's Cornerstone (XIDS 2002) course, helping students successfully transition to university life and build a strong academic foundation.

A dedicated higher education professional with more than two decades of experience, Rebecca has devoted her career to expanding educational access, improving organizational effectiveness, and enhancing the student experience. From 2009 to 2022, she served on the USG eCampus Administration team, collaborating with institutions across the state to develop strategies, resources, and support systems that enhanced student achievement and persistence in online education. From 2011 to 2018, she also served as the University of West Georgia's liaison to Georgia Highlands College's Douglasville site, overseeing UWG academic programs and strengthening interinstitutional partnerships.

Rebecca has contributed extensively to university leadership through service on numerous institutional and system-level committees, including the Seamless Integration Team, Continuous Improvement Institute, Presidential Search and Screen Committee, Leadership Development Institute, Engage West Barrier Team, Master Plan Committee, and other strategic initiatives focused on planning, operational improvement, and student success. An advocate for branch campus leadership and student belonging, she presents at regional and national conferences, sharing innovative practices that strengthen community engagement, foster welcoming campus environments, and enhance the student experience through cross-campus partnerships and operational innovation.

Beyond the university, Rebecca is an active community leader. She serves as Treasurer for the Carroll County Veterans Memorial Park, the Carroll County/Carrollton Sertoma Clubs, and the National Association of Branch Campus Administrators. She is past Chair of the UWG Athletic Foundation and serves on the board of the West Georgia Domestic Violence Shelter. She also coordinates the annual Carrollton July 4th People’s Parade and chairs the Carrollton Empty Stocking Fund, demonstrating her longstanding commitment to civic engagement and public service.

Rebecca is a proud member of the University of West Georgia's donor societies, including The 1906 Society, The Thirteen Oaks Society, The President’s Circle, and The Red & Blue Society.
