Overview
The LeadWest Academy is a 6-month leadership development opportunity for managers
who desire to develop and strengthen their leadership skills. Presenters will include
on-campus leaders as well as external professionals who are experts in their discipline.
Goal
The LeadWest Academy aims to foster high-level leadership skills to create a positive
and empowering work environment that results in a better overall educational experience
for our students.
Timeline
The Academy will consist of two cohorts within a 12-month period.
Cohort 1: July – December
Cohort 2: January – June
The Academy will consist of monthly 2-hour sessions. The total time commitment is 12 hours over the 6-month period. All sessions expect to be conducted in-person unless health requirements require virtual or hybrid meetings. It is expected that participants will attend all sessions.
Curriculum
The session topics will include (in this order): Self-Awareness including the FourSight
assessment, Effective Communication Skills, Coaching to Improve Employee Performance,
Conflict Resolution, Building Trust & Respect, Dealing with Change.
Project
Each cohort will be given a project to complete as a group during the program. The
completion of the project will require collaboration and meetings of the group outside
of the monthly 2-hour instructional session. The project topics will vary with each
cohort but will be designed around a deliverable that can be implemented into campus
operations that results in a better student experience.
Application
Applications for the next LeadWest Academy will open two months prior to the start
of an Academy cohort. Applications will be reviewed by a small team of individuals
identified by the Learning & Organizational Development Assistant Director. Supervisory
approval will be obtained for each selected participant. Each cohort will consist
of 20-25 participants.
