QUARANTINE AND ISOLATION GUIDANCE

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has streamlined its guidance regarding isolation and quarantine for COVID-19.

Exposed to COVID-19?
Quarantine for individuals who were exposed to COVID-19 is no longer recommended; rather, the CDC recommends wearing a high-quality mask for 10 days and getting tested at least five (5) full days after your last exposure.

Tested Positive for COVID-19?
Regardless of vaccination status, you should isolate yourself from others when you have COVID-19. You should also isolate if you are sick and suspect you have COVID-19 but do not yet have test results.

  • If your test results are positive, follow the full isolation recommendations on the CDC website, including staying at home for at least five (5) days.
  • If your test results are negative, you can end your isolation.

COVID-19 Information in Georgia

In addition to the data reported on this page, we encourage you to access the Georgia Department of Public Health’s (DPH) website. The GDPH collects and posts data specific to all 159 Georgia counties on its status report. You can scroll to the state map and hover over the desired county to see the latest information on count and trend lines.

When UWG learns of positive cases, they are reported to the DPH in a timely manner and in the county where individuals are currently located. Therefore, the DPH Daily Status Report provides members of our community an accurate and relevant assessment of the number of cases in the areas where they live and work.
