Dual Career Information
Services Offered
Eligible spouses, partners, or immediate family begin the Dual Career Opportunities Program (DCOP) process by enrolling for the program through our enrollment form. The client will be contacted
by a member of the DCOP team for a follow-up. Depending on the individual needs of each client, some of the following services may be offered:
- General information about employment in and around Carrollton
- Job/ interview search
- Mock interview preparation
- Resume/ cover letter critique
- Career counseling and assessment
- Other individual assistance as available.
Note that the DCOP cannot guarantee employment nor does this constitute endorsement of those employers.
The Dual Career Opportunities Program at the University of West Georgia:
- Offers assistance to the spouse, partner, or immediate family of a prospective faculty or staff member who is being recruited by the University through a regional or national recruitment effort, or
- Offers assistance to the spouse,partner, or immediate family of a new faculty or staff member who was recruited by the University through a regional or national recruitment effort.
- Offers assistance to the spouse, partner, or immediate family of a continuing faculty or staff member who is seeking job search assistance.
- Will offer assistance to the spouse, partner, or immediate family for up to twelve months.
- Is only available to spouses, partners, or immediate family who have lived in or around Carrollton for less than twelve months.

Although the program does not guarantee employment or create job openings, we will assist you in your job search. Dual Career clients are supported in their job search and work closely with the Office of Public Service and Outreach to identify job opportunities, update their job seeking skills and obtain networking information.
The Dual Career Program does not compromise the normal hiring or search process, but we can provide a letter of support to a hiring supervisor to identify you as a Dual Career Client for university positions.
Yes! The Dual Career Program maintains a network of business contacts in the community and surrounding area to assist you in your job search.
It should not be. Dual Career status should not play a role in the discussion of the merit and suitability of a candidate.
It is illegal and inappropriate at any time to ask candidates any direct questions about their partner situation. However, it is very important to provide all candidates with information about the Dual Career Opportunities Program very early in the process— ideally before they even visit.
Yes. Dual Career candidates may be considered for the Temporary Worker Pool that was recently developed by the Barriers Team.
Unfortunately, the DCOP team does not provide references for clients. References given to potential employers should be from those who can speak with a great degree of knowledge about the candidate’s past performance, accomplishments, and contributions. We can provide a letter of support to a hiring supervisor to identify you as a Dual Career Client for university positions.
