Parking & Transportation Services FAQ
License Plate Recognition (LPR) is a parking enforcement system that uses your registered vehicle license plate as your parking permit. Vehicles registered with UWG are identified by their license plate rather than a physical hangtag.
No. Your registered license plate serves as your parking permit. Certain situations may require an alternative solution, and Campus Services will provide information if needed.
Students, faculty, and staff can register vehicles through the Parking and Transportation Online Portal. You are responsible for keeping your vehicle and license plate information current.
Yes. You may register multiple vehicles to your account according to university guidelines. Only one registered vehicle may be parked on campus at the same time unless otherwise authorized.
Vehicles should park with the registered license plate facing the driving lane so it can be read by the LPR system. UWG offers an optional LPR-readable front plate for individuals who prefer to back into or pull through parking spaces. When properly mounted and linked to your registered vehicle, the front plate allows the LPR system to identify your vehicle from the front. A one-time fee of $10 applies for the optional front plate.
Update your vehicle and license plate information through the Parking and Transportation Online Portal as soon as possible to ensure your vehicle is properly registered and to avoid citations.
Using a rental car, borrowed vehicle, or temporary replacement? Update your parking account with the temporary vehicle information before parking on campus to avoid citations.
Temporary license plate information can be entered during vehicle registration. If your permanent plate changes later, update your parking account as soon as possible.
No. UWG's LPR is used to identify registered vehicles for parking purposes and support parking enforcement. It is not intended to monitor individuals or track movement around campus.
