Message from UWG President, Dr. Brendan B. Kelly

Members of the UWG Community,

Over the past few weeks, I have had the pleasure of visiting many functional units on campus in an effort to connect with every unit. It has been an incredible opportunity to meet so many excellent faculty and staff who are invested in curating the experience of students and outcomes at the University of West Georgia. At each of those meetings, we have talked about planning for the future of UWG. Today, I am excited to share with you this video in which I describe the strategic visioning that will serve as the foundation for our strategic planning for the future of the University of West Georgia: what UWG will become.

While the strategic plan will be driven by a large collection of stakeholders who are invested in and impacted by UWG, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, supporters, and community members, three pillars – relevance, competitiveness, and placemaking – will serve as the institution’s focus to imagine the future. These pillars will frame “Becoming UWG,” the overarching strategic planning process that will lead our institution into the next chapter.

I invite you to join me for “Becoming UWG: A Virtual Gathering on Strategic Planning,” a facilitated dialogue hosted by UWG faculty member Dr. Hazel Cole and UWG student Ashley Moore, on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m.

For more information on the process and to join the virtual gathering, visit www.westga.edu/becominguwg.

Best wishes,
