The University Writing Center's Online Consultations
The University Writing Center (UWC)'s online services are available Monday-Friday. The dropbox closes everyday at 3:00 or when the allotted number of papers for the day is reached.
Submissions through CourseDen Dropbox
Directions: Once you have logged into CourseDen, go to My Courses > select University Center Online Consultations Spring 2022 > click Assignments > click on the available dropbox > follow the directions provided in the box.
We also have an Informational video that walks you through the CourseDen course (We have the written directions below for convenience)
Due to limited staffing, we are instituting a page limit for submissions to 7 pages. You are welcome to upload a larger document, but unless specifically noted in the submission request, the first 7 pages will be all that the consultant references. Tutors have up to 48-hours to return feedback, but they may complete their reviews faster than that.
To retrieve the consultant's feedback, students will need to launch Turnitin after clicking into their submission. Feedback will be given via Turnitin or, in some cases, in the comment section within the assignment. Note: a grade of "50" will be marked for each submission. This does not connect in any way to the quality of the assignment reviewed; this is marked to ensure that students can view feedback in Turnitin.
Synchronous Video Sessions
To schedule a synchronous video session with a consultant, simply email firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know what day & time you would like to schedule a session. The session link will be scheduled by our staff & sent via email to you and your consultant.
Campus Provided Online Resources
UWG Online, the University Writing Center (UWC), and the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Committee are excited to announce that Smarthinking, the 24-hour online tutoring service, is now available to all currently-enrolled students here at UWG, even students in face-to-face courses. Smarthinking is simple, fast, and always available, and students can connect to live educators from any computer that has internet access at any time, with no special software installation or equipment required.
For a student to have access to Smarthinking, faculty members must request that the service be added into their course(s) via CourseDen. You can correct mistakes with a single click. Grammarly’s algorithms flag potential issues in the text and suggest context-specific corrections for grammar, spelling, and vocabulary. Grammarly explains the reasoning behind each correction, so you can make an informed decision about whether, and how, to correct an issue. All you have to do is click to accept a suggested correction or dismiss one. Grammarly tracks your personal issues through the week and provides a personal summary report of types of mistakes you made throughout the week.
