Carroll (Chief Charles "Barry") Memorial Scholarship (Freshmen)

This scholarship is given in the honor of Chief of Carrollton Police Department Barry "C" Carroll. It is intended for incoming outstanding local freshmen  whose community service participation demonstrates commitment to community support and involvement, while educational pursuits indicate an interest in the service leadership and/or Criminology field.  Scholarship criteria include Incoming freshmen from Carrollton City or a Carroll County high school, high school gpa of 3.0 (calculated by the Office of Admissions), an outstanding record of community service or an interest in law enforcement, a 500 word essay reflecting community activities and how they've influenced their life.

Thomas R. Luck, Jr. Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student with a 2.5+ GPA majoring in Political Science or Mass Communications (Print Emphasis-Journalism) with financial need. The scholarship was established by the friends and family of the late Thomas R. Luck, Jr. Mr. Luck was a 1939 graduate of West Georgia College and successful Atlanta attorney.

Anedra S. Williams

The award will be given to a Female African-American Student with GPA of 3.0 or higher who demonstrates financial need. The awardee will be a Junior or Senior within the College of Social Sciences and demonstrate community and/or campus activism.

Herndon Award

These awards are presented annually to the outstanding students from academic disciplines in the Social Sciences. Recipients must have a declared major in the field of the award, superior academic achievement, demonstrated leadership ability, potential for development in the respective academic discipline and active involvement in extracurricular activities. The award was established in 1953 by friends and classmates in memory of the late Thomas A. Herndon, Jr. a graduate of the class of 1939.

Janet Clark Endowment

Annual student essay competition, students must have been enrolled during previous year, undergrad student w/ declared major in Political Science or Planning, grad student in Masters of Public Admin or Planning.

Jud Whatley Scholarship

The recipient shall be a Political Science major and  selected based on merit and scholarship achievement, financial need.

T. Trevor Head Memorial Award

Undergrad or Grad student majoring in political science, GPA 2.0,meet UWGs academic standards thru duration of scholarship, submit either 1-2 pg essay regarding UWG experience/career aspirations OR submit CV for review. Preference for active participation in College Democrats or Republicans, student Gov., Greek Life/Affairs, University newspaper, or campus radio or TV.

Tony Jackson Garrett Scholarship (a.k.a. Fraternal Order of Police)

Rising junior full-time, preference for graduate from high school in Carroll County, GPA 3.0, seeking B.S. in Criminology or senior seeking Masters in Criminology, secondary criteria if primary is not able to be filled - seeking B.S. in Education or Nursing, financial need as a consideration.
