Presidential Scholarships

Incoming First-year Honors students are eligible to receive the University of West Georgia's most prestigious awards, Presidential Scholarships.

Every year we award a small number of exceptional incoming Honors College students with a Presidential Scholarship. These awards cover tuition, room and board, and fees, and are renewable for up to 3 additional years as long as the student maintains Honors College eligibility.

In order to be considered for this award, you must be eligible for the Honors College.

The Presidential Scholarship Committee reviews the Admissions Scores of all Honors College eligible UWG incoming first year students who have been accepted to the University of West Georgia and applied to the Honors College by our January 15 deadline. Students with exceptional qualifications will be contacted and interviews will be arranged.

Decisions are typically made around March 1st each year.

The review process for Presidential Scholarships is highly competitive. Students with high GPA's and SAT/ACT scores are encouraged to apply early to the University of West Georgia  (Office of Undergraduate Admissions) in order to be eligible to receive these awards.

Currently enrolled Honors College students have opportunities to apply for an Honors College Scholarship each Fall semester. Award amounts vary and are based on the following criteria:

  • Essay

The call for applications is issued in late Fall each year via email to all Honors students. Students must apply by completing an application through the UWG Scholarship portal (westga.edu/scholarships). Students must also attach an academic resume in order to be considered.
