Admissions Deadlines: 

To be admitted to the Honors College, students must apply by one of the deadline dates listed below:

  1. Deadline 1 for Fall and Spring Semester: November 1st
  2. Deadline 2 for Fall Semester: January 15th
  3. Deadline 3 for Fall Semester: May 1st

Admissions Criteria:

The Honors College seeks students who are motivated by a curiosity about the world, interested in research and creative activity, and committed to doing their best. Students interested in applying to the Honors College must first apply to and be accepted to the University of West Georgia. After receiving admission to the University, students should fill out the appropriate application at the links below.

Incoming First-Year Students 

First-year Student Admission to the Honors College is based on a holistic evaluation of each applicant.  Typically, students admitted to the Honors College have graduated high school with at least a 3.5 GPA, have demonstrated extra-curricular engagement, and have submitted a personal statement. Admission is competitive. (Application is in student portal)

Transfer Applicants 

A Transfer student who wishes to be considered for the Honors College must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • 3.2 Transfer GPA
  • 15 college credit hours earned

Transfer students who completed Honors coursework at other Honors Programs or Colleges may be eligible to have those Transfer Honors credits used for their UWG Honors College graduation requirements. (Application is in student portal)

Continuing UWG Students 

A current University of West Georgia student who wishes to be considered for the Honors College must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • 3.2 Overall GPA
  • 15 college credit hours earned

In order to complete the Honors College curriculum requirements, Current UWG students need to have four full-time semesters remaining prior to the intended graduation date.
