Instructor of English
Applications are invited for a one year, full-time appointment for the 2016-2017 academic year at the rank of Instructor of English commencing August 1, 2016. The candidate appointed to this position will teach four, 3 credit-hour courses (ENGL 1101 and/or ENGL 1102) per semester (eight courses total) in the department’s First-Year Writing Program and work as a tutor in the University Writing Center for three hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. Opportunities for teaching courses beyond ENGL 1101 and 1102 or for summer teaching are contingent on enrollment and are not guaranteed. Minimum requirements are the M.A. or Ph.D. in English or the M.F.A. in Creative Writing with superior evidence of effective college-level teaching of writing. The University of West Georgia is a coeducational, residential, liberal arts institution located 45 miles west of Atlanta in Carrollton, Georgia. The university offers undergraduate degrees in over 50 areas of study. In addition to a vibrant First-Year Writing Program, the department offers undergraduate degrees in English literature and in English Education and supports minors in Creative Writing, Africana Studies, and Film Studies. UWG is an R3 university and is part of the University System of Georgia. The Department of English and Philosophy is centrally located on campus in the Technology Learning Center (TLC) and is comprised of over 50 full-time faculty.
