Laurie Peterson, M.Ed., CCC-SLP

Laurie Peterson, M. Ed., CCC-SLP, is a graduate of the University of West Georgia and was hired as a full-time employee in 2018.  She is currently certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds a Georgia license with the Professional Standards Commission. She serves as a clinical faculty member in the Comprehensive Community Clinic supervising graduate speech-language clinicians. She gained most of her experience in schools and private practice serving a span of ages/ grades to provide a variety of skilled services across settings. 

She assisted with establishing UWG's grant-funded Early Intervention Speech Clinic in Heard County, Georgia, where she also supervises and provides early intervention services to local clients from 0-4 years. Her interests include Autism Spectrum Disorders regarding practical communication and parent education, as well as the positive impacts of mindfulness for students with communication delays. She has received training through the Marcus Autism Center related to Social-Emotional Engagement Knowledge and Skills (SEE-KS) Program and worked with program coordinators to help with implementing SEE-KS in local area schools. 

She is a wife, mother of four, enjoys music, the practice of yoga, cycling, and gardening.
