N. Jane McCandless

Dr. McCandless’ interests are in the area of social inequality, with a focus on women’s issue.  After 18 years in various administrative positions, including Director of Graduate Studies, Department Chair, and Founding Dean of the College of Social Sciences, Dr. McCandless also lectures and writes on women and leadership.Complementing her teaching and research is her extensive work within the local community.  Some of her work within the local community included spearheading the creation of the Carroll Rape Crisis Center (now known as PARC), mediating in the Coweta Judicial Circuit, and over the years volunteering for such organizations as the Domestic Violence Shelter and the Carroll Co. Soup Kitchen.Dr. McCandless enjoys working closely with students who share her interests and frequently sponsors students in student paper competitions and at professional meetings.
