Three UWG Students Win at 24-Hour Game Programming Competition
Three University of West Georgia Advanced Academy students were awarded "Best Overall" after creating the game Toast Cat at CodeDay Atlanta, the world's largest series of educational programming marathons. The competition is a series of student programming events held worldwide that give students 24 hours to build a game or app with their group members.
The WOLF Internet Radio 2015 IBS Finalist
The WOLF Internet Radio at the University of West Georgia is a five-time finalist for the 2015 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Golden and Silver Microphone Awards of Excellence in radio, television, and webcasting. The station is a finalist in the following categories: best promo series, best celebrity/artist interview, best blog, best use of social media, and best online college station.
Long-time Architect Wins Distinguished Service Award
Her resume reads like the reference box of a University of West Georgia campus map: Arbor View, Campus Center, Coliseum, Stadium, Greek Village, Nursing Building, Visual Arts Building, Center Pointe - University Architect Elsa Pena has played a major role in all of them. Overall, she has had an impact on over 1 million of the total 2.6 million square feet of building space on campus.

UWG Applies for Stanley Security Grant
One of the primary functions of the University of West Georgia Police Department is to maintain safety and security on the campus for its some 12,000 students and all of the faculty and staff members. In order to provide a more secure environment, UWGPD has applied for the Stanley Security TOGETHER FOR SAFER SCHOOLS Grant.

UWG Hosts Sir CV Raman Post-doctoral Research Fellow
Internationally renowned scientist Dr. Estari Mamidala, a recipient of the prestigious Sir CV Raman Post-doctoral Research Award from the University Grants Commission in India, joined the laboratory of Dr. Swamy Mruthinti, professor of biology and associate dean of the College of Science and Mathematics for one year starting September 2014.
More Than Half of Advanced Academy Students Earn 4.0 GPA for Fall 2014
Twenty of 38 Advanced Academy students earned a perfect grade point average for the Fall 2014 semester. The semester and cumulative GPA of the 38 students both totaled a 3.8. Another notable accomplishment is that 18 of the 38 students were able to maintain a 4.0 cumulative GPA after last semester's impressive averages.
Special Collections at UWG's Ingram Library Receives Ingo Swann Papers
The family of Ingo Swann and his former colleagues, along with University of West Georgia Department of Psychology Chair Dr. Don Rice and other faculty, gathered in Ingram Library recently to celebrate the donation of the papers and book collection of Ingo Swann (1933-2013), a writer, artist, and psychic who notably was involved in the Stargate Project, a United States program which investigated whether psychic phenomenon had domestic and military applications during the Cold War.
UWG Ranked Highly by U.S. News for Online Programs
The University of West Georgia ranked highly in the recently released U.S. News & World Report online program rankings, with the online graduate computer information technology program ranking 16th in the nation.

Marrero Named One of Georgia's Most Influential
Georgia Trend has named University of West Georgia President Dr. Kyle Marrero to its annual list of 100 Most Influential Georgians. Marrero joins top business, political, and cultural leaders in the state. This is his first appearance on the competitive list.

A visiting artist series is now a reality at the University of West Georgia thanks to the gracious gift of $50,000 from Michael and Andrea Stone. The Michael and Andrea Stone Visiting Artist Series will bring artists from around the world to visit UWG and share their art and talents with students and the community
UWG Announces New Additions to Study Abroad Program
The University of West Georgia has three new opportunities for students to spend a semester abroad while earning credit towards their UWG degrees. This fall, the institution signed exchange agreements with universities in the Netherlands, Ireland, and Australia that will provide students in a variety of disciplines the chance to gain global experience while customizing their degree programs.
