Competitive Sports offers a variety of league Recreational Sports that run for four weeks and then a week of playoffs, leading up to the championship night. Leagues are offered to provide a structured competitive environment that encourages positive sportsmanship. All participants will be required to take a sports-related quiz prior to participation and maintain a sportsmanship rating of at least 3.0 to be eligible for playoffs. 

Don't have time to compete in a full league sport? We offer a variety of one-or-two-day tournaments where participants can register online or just show up on the day of the event.

    Dodgeball

    Work together to get all of the members of the other team (6v6) out with dodgeballs. Any player hit with a ball (below the shoulders) is out. Win the game by being the last team standing.

    4v4 Flag Football

    Compete against others in this fun adaptation of traditional flag football. Quarterbacks have seven seconds to pass the ball and running is not an option to advance the ball in this league. Make sure to recruit some talented receivers to help get your team to victory.

    NCAA March Madness (Virtual)

    Who are your final four teams? Create your bracket for who you think will win the men's and women's NCAA March Madness basketball tournament.

    Indoor Volleyball

    Teams of 6 will compete in the front courts for the volleyball championship. Bump, set, and spike the ball over the net in three hits and don't forget its rally scoring.

    Archery Tag

    This unique sport combines elements of dodgeball with the timeless skills of archery. Players take aim at each other with foam arrows to score points and eliminate opposing team members.

    Tournament date: Jan. 21

    Time: 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

    Location:  Campus Center Front Courts

    Trashcan Soccer

    With a partner, show off your footwork by drop-kicking soccer balls into the opposing teams trash cans in an attempt to eliminate all their trash cans before they eliminate yours.

    Tournament date: Feb. 25

    Time: 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

    Location: Outside (if weather is bad, it will be located in the Campus Center front courts)

    Ultimate Frisbee

    Ultimate is a non-contact, self-officiated team sport played on the Intramural Field 13. The object of the game is to score points by passing the frisbee to a player in the end zone.

    Tournament date: April 22

    Time: 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

    Location: IM Field 13

    Come explore the new esports arena located in the Campus Center game room. You will have the opportunity to learn about the new esport offerings as well as compete in mini-tournaments on the spot for a chance to win UREC prizes.

How to Play

  1. Visit myrec.westga.edu and log in using your UWG credentials
  2. If you are a new user, you will be prompted to create your IMLeagues user profile
  3. Select desired sport, league (mens, womens, corec, etc.) and division (date/time you wish to play)
  4. Create or join a team for free!

Forfeit Fee

It is free to play but a $15 forfeit fee will be charged to the captain of a team when the team fails to show up for a scheduled game. To avoid a forfeit, email rec-ccaples@westga.edu by 2:00 p.m. the day of your game.

Spring 2021 Recreational Sports Operations

  • All recreational sports will be structured as individual or dual sports with the total number of participants not exceeding six
  • A participant will check-in by showing his/her/their valid UWG ID to the rec sports staff onsight while standing on the 6 ft distance marker
  • No more than three student employees will be working at a time and will be wearing appropriate facial coverings while adhering to distancing guidelines
    Recreational sports will be played outside when possible. Campus Center courts and the game room may be used when participants and staff are less than 10 people
  • No spectators will be allowed in the Campus Center spaces. Spectators may watch outdoor games while staying out of the playing area and adhering to physical distancing guidelines. Staff reserves the right to ensure that physical distancing occurs as much as possible

Cleaning Procedures

  • Staff will frequently disinfect the check-in table and all sport equipment before play, in between games/sets, and after play
  • Anytime equipment will be touched by a new participant, it will be disinfected before and after use
  • Participants will be asked to wash their hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer before and after each use of sporting equipment
