Dr. Elroi J. Windsor is Professor of Sociology at the University of West Georgia and the Executive Officer of the Society for the Study of Social Problems. While working on a doctoral degree at Georgia State University, Windsor specialized in gender and sexuality, studying trans men’s health care experiences and the surgical body modification practices of cisgender and transgender consumers. Windsor is coeditor, with Mindy Stombler, Dawn M. Baunach, Elisabeth O. Burgess, and Wendy Simonds, of Sex Matters: The Sexuality and Society Reader (W. W. Norton, 2014, 2019; Allyn & Bacon, 2009), and co-editor, with Dana Berkowitz and Chong-suk Han, of Male Femininities (NYU Press, 2023) Currently, Windsor is focusing on the sociology of the body and embodiment and is working on a book based on ethnographic research with health care body workers who deal with parts of people and deceased bodies. Windsor enjoys teaching classes in gender, sexuality, body/embodiment, theory, qualitative methods, and introductory sociology.
