Welcome to the Center for Sustainability at UWG (CSUWG). The Center was created in 2014 as an extension of the Sustainability Council; its mission is to promote sustainability initiatives on campus and the community with a longer term vision of making UWG one of the most recognized sustainable campuses in Georgia. Currently the center’s mission and vision are being pursued by the Sustainability Council and the Director for Sustainability at UWG. This website is the virtual home of the Center; it aims to be a go-to site for all things related to sustainability on campus. We hope you find it useful.
UWG Earns AASHE Bronze Certification
After long and hard work compiling the data and submitting the report, UWG has earned a bronze AASHE STARS certification. AASHE stands for the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education and their STARS assessment is the premier tool in the United States used for measuring and reporting data on the status of campus sustainability.
You can see a full story on this accomplishment HERE.
If you would like to review the full report, you can find it HERE.
Meet at Coliseum parking lot - Chrissy Knoll will guide a 2 mile walk through the newly blazed and cleared trails through UWG’s backwoods. Enjoy the nature, discover UWG’s disc golf course, and finish by admiring UWG’s own community garden.
Meet at the Student Recreation Center on the north side of W. Georgia Drive (Left of the Nursing Building). The Sustainability Council will host a Bicycle Poker ride to promote the new bike lanes and Green Belt on campus. The bike ride is geared towards students, faculty, and staff. The ride will wind through campus using the new bike lanes and the green belt. You will pick up a playing card at five different stations and the person with the best hand at the end of the ride wins! Stay posted for more details.
